Donegal Safety Services Covid-19 Policy Sign

Covid-19 Policy

At Donegal Safety Services Ltd, we take the health and safety of our staff and course participants very seriously and we have taken steps to ensure our courses are Covid-19 compliant.  Our Covid-19 Policy provides guidance on steps that we all should be taking and will also outline precautions that we will be taking on our courses.

We will be continually monitoring the HSE website for updates on guidance and directives.

At present we are operating as normal and any changes to this policy as a result of government guidance and/or directives will be notified to customers immediately.

Symptoms

It can take up to 14 days for symptoms of coronavirus to appear.  They can be similar to the symptoms of cold and flu.  Common symptoms of coronavirus include:

  • a fever (high temperature – 38 degrees celcius or above)
  • a cough – this can be any kind of cough, not just dry
  • shortness of breath or breathing difficulties
  • loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

If you are worried about symptoms call your GP directly. If you have symptoms of coronavirus, however mild, please do not attend any courses and follow government advice regarding self-isolation.

Preventing spread of infection

The HSE recommends that the following general cold and flu precautions are taken to help prevent people from catching and spreading coronavirus:

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away
  • Wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

How we are protecting learners in the classroom:

  • On arrival the trainer will be vigilant to any attendee exhibiting signs of respiratory infection
  • Anyone showing signs of respiratory infection (e.g. cough/cold/flu) will be asked to self-exclude from the course
  • All participants will be asked to complete a COVID-19 health questionnaire
  • All participants will be asked to sanitise their hands at appropriate intervals throughout the training

Course induction:

  • On arrival all participants will be given clear instructions in following World Health Organisation advice on infection prevention and control.  Adherence to hygiene advice will be encouraged and monitored by the trainer throughout the course.
  • Frequent hand washing and/or hand sanitizing will be required throughout the course.

What if I cannot attend a training course because of COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Please notify us as soon as possible if you wish to re-schedule your booking.  As a minimum this must be before your course starts.
  • We have relaxed our policies around notice periods for re-scheduling courses so you can tell us at any time before your course starts and you will not be charged to rearrange your training.

What if I start to feel unwell while attending a training course being ran by Donegal Safety Services Ltd?

  • If someone develops coronavirus symptoms whilst on a course, we have procedures in place to ask you to self-isolate and inform other delegates.
  • We will ask all delegates at the end of their course to tell us if they develop symptoms of coronavirus within  14 days of attending our course.  We can then identify anyone on the same course and inform them.

If you have any queries regarding our Covid-19 Policy or require any further information on any of our courses, please contact info@donegalsafetyservices.ie or visit our contact page and send us a message.
