Falls Prevention Training
Falls Prevention Training is designed to help healthcare and social care teams reduce the risk of falls. It gives staff the confidence to respond safely when falls occur, whilst promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing for people in their care. Falls are a common patient safety concern in hospitals, care homes, community services and supported living settings. Effective prevention relies on confident staff, good observation, clear communication and evidence-informed practice.
What is Falls Prevention Training?
This training provides learners with the knowledge and practical awareness needed to identify falls risks, support safer environments and follow appropriate procedures after a fall. It explores the physical, environmental, psychological and organisational factors that can contribute to falls, while helping staff understand their role in prevention, reporting, documentation and ongoing care planning.
Training includes case studies, discussions, and role-play to support learning and build confidence in real-life situations.

- Standards and Legislation
- Falls Risk Factors
- Prevention in Daily Practice
- Risk Assessment and Care Planning
- When a fall occurs
- Scenario Discussions
Duration:
Approximately 3 hours
Maximum Participants:
15 participants per course
Falls Prevention Training Assessment & Certification:
Assessment:
Learner skill and knowledge will be continually assessed throughout the duration of the course.
In addition Learners will complete:
- A Multiple Choice Questionnaire
Certification:
Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a certificate issued by Donegal Safety Services which is valid for 2 years.
