Driver Safety Training
Driver Safety Training is applicable to any organisation who operates or uses minibuses. This training aims to improve passenger safety by providing the necessary skills for those who have responsibility of driving passengers with disabilities. It provides information to allow drivers to understand and meet the needs of their passengers, it also covers legal, practical and safety issues.
Driver Safety Training Course Content
This Driver Safety Training course is a comprehensive training package delivered over three days, however modules can be taken from this to tailor a one or two day course as required. The three day course typically includes the following:
First Day
- Driver Wellbeing
- Good Driver Practice
- Disability Awareness
- Accident Reporting
- Emergency/Basic First Aid (including CPR and use of an AED)
Second Day
- Manual Handling
- Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults
- Infection Prevention Control (IPC)
Third Day
- Wheelchair Clamping & Lifting Equipment (CLE)
- Communication Skills
- Emergency Evacuation Procedures / 5-Steps of Safety
Method of Delivery
Training is facilitated through PowerPoint presentation, discussions, practical demonstrations and practice.
Course Duration
The full course is 3 days duration. The maximum capacity for this is 10 participants.
Assessment
All participants will be required to participate fully in all practical elements of training, they must also complete learning questionnaires for several modules.
Certification
Certification is provided by Donegal Safety Services Ltd on successful completion of the course and will be valid for 2 years.
