Paediatric (Infant) First Aid is a one-day training course especially designed for carers of young children in any environment.  It is specifically relevant for school, pre-school and nursery staff, parents and play leaders.  Participants will learn a high level of practical skills so that they can deal competently with first aid situations that may arise.

Paediatric First Aid is training that solely reflects on practices and skills needed in the child and infant age groups.  This Paediatric First Aid course covers everything you need to know on helping a sick, injured or ill child, prior to the arrival of the emergency services.

Course Layout:

This Paediatric First Aid Course can be tailored to your particular needs.  However, will have particular emphasis  on the following core subjects;

  • Scene Management
  • Primary Survey & Secondary Survey
  • Responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Assessing a paediatric patient
  • Basic Life Support (Child/Infant CPR)
  • Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (Choking)
  • Bleeding
  • Medical Conditions (Asthma, Meningitis, Anaphylaxis, Seizure/Epilepsy, Febrile Convulsions, Diabetes, Sickle cell disease, Croup, Fifth Disease)
  • Burn Injury
  • Fractures and soft tissue injuries
  • Head Injuries
  • Poisons and insect stings

Method of Delivery:

  • Classroom Presentation & Discussion, DVD & Practical Demonstration

Duration:

  • 6 hours tuition

Maximum Participants:

  • 12 participants

Paediatric First Aid Certification:

  • Successful candidates will receive a ‘Paediatric First Aid’ certificate from Donegal Safety Services Ltd which will be valid for 2 years
